Car Caves was founded in 2001 in Bayswater North, Victoria — and the reason we started is pretty simple: we were car people ourselves and we couldn't find a decent purpose-built enclosure anywhere. What was on the market was generic, flimsy, and clearly designed by people who'd never actually cared about a vehicle in their lives. So we built our own.
In the early days it was just a handful of us, working out of a shed, figuring out what serious car enthusiasts actually needed. Not a glorified tarpaulin. Not a cover that flaps in the wind and leaves scratches on your duco. A proper enclosure — one that holds its shape, keeps the elements out, and lets you walk in through a zip without dismantling the whole thing. That's what we set out to build, and that's still what we make today.
Over two decades, we've supplied enclosures to classic car collectors, track-day drivers, weekend restorers, and everyday garage hobbyists all across Australia. Our customers keep coming back — and they send their mates our way — because we've never compromised on what matters. Quality materials, honest engineering, and products that do exactly what they say they will.
We know who our customers are. You're not someone who just parks a car and forgets about it. What sets us apart from generic car cover companies is simple: we don't sell covers. We sell enclosures. There's a big difference. A cover sits on your car and flaps about and eventually rubs your paint. An enclosure stands around your car, holds its shape, and keeps the weather genuinely out — rain, dust, UV, hail, all of it. That difference matters when you're protecting something irreplaceable.
We're still based in Bayswater North, still run by people who love vehicles, and still as stubborn as ever about not cutting corners. Twenty-plus years in, we're proud of every product that goes out the door — because every product that goes out the door is going to protect something someone cares about deeply. That's not a responsibility we take lightly.
